Kindu is the capital of Maniema province. It is situated on the banks of the Congo river. There is no bridge across the river here and one must rely on the “pirogue” or dugout canoe to get across. In order to travel to different towns on the other side of the river, we were required to take our motorcycles in the canoes. Goods and people are ferried across frequently as are bicycles. You can see from the images below what the town of Alunguli looks like with its bright yellow dirt roads. The center of Kindu has a few paved roads and some of the colonial buildings still stand in the center of town. Take a trip across the Congo in the video below.

Merci @EbickNgoma ! Le Congo est un pays si riche en ressources naturelles et le potentiel en agriculture ethydro-électrique est énorme. Espérons que les dirigeants puissent un jour s’organiser pour maximiser ce potentiel.
