With the Google photos and its revamped features, there is so much more that you can do!
After you host a Meetup, you will receive an e-mail from Google asking you how it all went after which they will ask you to fill a ‘feedback form’ where you have to input;
- Link to your recap
- Link to your photo album
- Link to your video (if any)
I have dealt with the other two in this post. Did I miss out something? kindly add it there.
In this post, I will be Sharing how to create a ‘Collaborative Folder or a shared Photo Album’ using Google Photos.
I first saw and used this kind of Album at theOnline-Photo-Workshop-Series by @PaulPavlinovich I was surprised, everyone could add photos, and even leave comments on them. I thought it was only for the 'biggest boys and girls’ of theLocal Guides Community.
I read in the ‘Guidelines’ how to create the Photo Album but only understood it when @jaisoncbe explained to me.
So, here is how to create a shared album.
- Download Google Photos, it comes preinstalled on most Android devices
- Sign up using your preferred ‘Google account’
- Open/Launch Google Photos, You will see; Photos, Search, Library
- Tap ‘Library’. Then, you will see;
- favorites
- Utilities
- Archive
- Trash
- Photos on Device
- Albums
ALBUMS
In the Album category,
- you will see; 'New Album’ - a blank square with a ‘+’ in the center
- Tap on it
- When you tap on it, you see the following;
- Add a title
- Share
- Add Photos a. Select People and Pets (create an auto-updating album) b. Select Photos
- The back button (by the left of your screen)
- Three ‘vertical dots’ by the uppermost right hand corner of your screen
It is at this point almost everyone gets it wrong, we add title and then ‘click on share’. It works too, right? but with some difficulty. Some people may be unable to find your link, unable to add photos and all that.
Please do this instead:
Three ‘vertical dots’ by the uppermost right hand corner of your screen
When you click on the three vertical dots, you see the following;
- Select
- Edit Album
- Options
- Delete Album
Select 'Options’
You will see;
- Automatically add photos of selected people and Pets
- Blank square with ‘+’ in the center
- Sharing
- Link sharing (Let anyone with the link see photos and people in this album
Link sharing (Let anyone with the link see photos and people in this album
The moment you ‘toggle this on’, the following appear;
- Collaborate (let others add their photos)
- Comments and likes (let others respond)
- Link sharing (Let anyone with the link see photos and people in this album)
- Copy link
- Invite others
At this point, Your Shared or Collaborative Google Album is Live! Tadaa!!
