Thanks for your support! I wish you all the best in creating a local community around you. It may take a while but don’t give up! Here are a few tips that I hope will help you:
-
write a post regularly on Connect (maybe once a month if you have the time) on Panama. Share your favourite places that you’ve visited or your favourite foodie stops or popular tourist attractions. Don’t forget to add links to Google Maps for the places you’ve mentioned and, if you want to, share links to your reviews relevant to the places you’ve mentioned. Two benefits:
- all of us on Connect can learn more about Panama which is totally awesome!
- you can be the visible Local Guide from Panama so that others can easily find you and be part of the Panama community
-
share your passion for Local Guides activities with your friends. Teach them about what you do and maybe they might enjoy it too. You can also create and host meet-ups and invite your friends to join in. Here’s an example of an easy meet-up to host:
- create a meet-up to explore a new cafe/restaurant. Invite your friends to join in. All of you visit this new cafe/restaurant, try out the food, soak in the vibes, take photos and then individually write reviews of your experience. This is the same as hanging out with your friends at a new place and you can help support a local business and hopefully, your friends will enjoy their time too and join future meet-ups!
- you can learn more about how to set up a meet-up here. And don’t forget to share a recap too!
-
get to know your ‘neighbours’! Can’t find anyone from Panama? Well, what about the neighbouring countries? Neighbouring countries usually mean shared languages, cultures and customs so it makes it easier to chat and get to know each other. You can also join in virtual meet-ups and meet more Local Guides. It’s not quite the same as a local community.. but it helps in the long run as you build up experience!
Hope they help! ![]()
