Correcting speed limits

I normally use waze for navigation but thought I’d go back to google maps for a while, I noticed so many errors for speed limits on certain roads when they’ve been worked on and lowered speed limits. I have put an edit request for these roads which have been denied, but the speed limit had been changed. I’m guessing its from my edit as other roads I haven’t done yet are still showing the wrong speed limit. However I have not been credited the edit. This is very frustrating as the change had been applied, and its difficult enough to earn the point for your profile. I know it benifits people updating the roads as there are soooo many errors with speed limits on maps but kinda feel whats the point in improving maps when you get no recognition for it. I dont even know why maps is so out of date with road speed limits, waze is upto date and owned by google?

In many areas the speed limits are harvested automatically from recent streetview images. This might explain why you can’t get such places fits approved.

@s123e welcome to the community… some data related to roads like name of the road, one way or two way and speed limit of most state and national highway are updated by the Google maps as per the information provided by the government… We can edit them but those won’t get approved…and about the points … It will only be credited to the profile of the edit is approved and even then it would take 3 to 5 days

I feel your pain @s123e
Waze is always more accuratae than Google Maps with road details. I suspect its because we have greater autonomy for making corrections on Waze, whereas a huge % of attempted edits on Google Maps is rejected.
