A lot of people use google map to find places and choosing the one suitable to them. Incorrect information may lead people to make decision that are not in their favor and waste their valuable time.
As a local guide, I like correcting things on the map and identifying missing places. I also try to provide balance review. I try to keep my own opinion away and focus more on providing facts so that people who want to use the service can take an informed decision. I stay away from criticizing people.
For example, I used google map to reach a place but when I reach the destination, I didn’t find it there. Then I inquired around and found the place. It was little away from location on the map. I immediately went to the map, clicked on suggest an edit, placed the pointer at right place and submitted. In some time it gets approved. It is just a little efforts but it is very helpful to the people going to this place. I have done several edits and identified various locations on the map. I really like it. I feel satisfied with such contribution.
One time I reach entirely a different place. Actual destination was far away from there. Someone might have marked it incorrectly. If I leave it like this, I will keep misguiding people to different place and wasting their time. As a local guide, I take it as my responsibility to correct things. So, I went on the map, click on Suggest an edit, put the pointer to right location and submitted. I immediately got an information that my suggestion is under review. In some time it was approve and gone live. Now no one get misguided and waste his/her time. I feel satisfied as I correctly performed my duty as local guide.
