Conservatory of flowers is located in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This is one of the oldest buildings in the park. In fact this year happens to be 150th year Anniversary of Golden Gate Park. City was planning a big celebration, and new Ferries wheel is also planned to become part of the park. Due to Covid-19, these celebrations were cancelled.
In fact as of now Conservatory of flowers in temporarily closed.
I visited Conservatory of Flowers in July 2018. There is an admission fee of $10-$12 for adults depending on the day. First Tuesday of every month admission is free. Always check their website for latest information on fees.
This is a greenhouse which houses several exotic plants. If you are a plan enthusiast, botanist or a shutterbug like me, you can easily spend few hours inside conservatory of flowers.
Here are some assorted photographs inside the greenhouse, give you some ideas of plants you can see.
There is a small lily pond inside, some carnivorous plants as well.
More pictures here of Conservatory of flowers.
There is a small gift shop inside as well.
Also there is an interesting new concept started in 2018 called ‘Nigh Bloom’. In Winter sun sets early. Conservatory of flowers started ‘Night Bloom’, the light and sound installation that will keep the historic indoor gardens open late into the evening on select nights in December/January time frame. I myself have not experienced this. I am looking forward to this in 2021, since 2020 events are all cancelled as of now.
Thanks for the inside look, @jayasimha78 ! In my past few visits to SF I’ve always considered going but never got the chance, and I usually opted for the Japanese Tea garden at GGP as well. Based on your photos and recap, though, seems like it’s worth the visit! I’ve been to a couple of similar gardens and I’ve loved them all, so it’s only right that I make a stop to this one next time I am there. A shame that the celebrations this year got cancelled. While I didn’t go inside, I did love the area around the Conservatory; here are some photos I took a while back:
@SP31 I believe it is worth visiting, if you like plants. You can get in free if you visit first Tuesday of the month when it open. Thanks for sharing your pictures. As you mentioned area around conservatory of flowers is very nice. Good for picnicking.
Thank you for sharing these amazing photos of the Conservatory of Flowers , @jayasimha78 , another pearl to add on my list for my next visit in San Francisco.
Regarding theJapanese Tea Garden, @SP31 , I can’t wait to see your photos here
