During LGSummit17, I remember asking @TraciC to conduct events in cities with most active local guides, like Hyderabad :). I felt like my wish came true when I saw the announcement of Connect live Hyderabad!
We were greeted with a Pearl necklace at the entrance of The Park Hotel, which is a befitting welcome as Hyderabad is known as city of Pearls
As I walked in saw the beautiful framed pictures taken by local guides attending the event
At the entrance of conference room there was a Auto rickshaw (tuk tuk for some), which we in Hyderabad lovingly call as “Aato”. Before the Ubers and Ola’s this used to be our favorite mode of transport in the city and it was nice to see a Aato parked at the entrance
The ambience, vibe and energy set the tempo for the awesome day ahead starting with Googlers including @analghosh speaking on upcoming India first features on maps, others spoke about safety features and ways to make maps better in the panel hosted by @JuanCh
We had a panel moderated by Juan featuring a discussion with @FazeelUsmani , @DanielTh and I where we talked about our experience as Local guides, our contribution to maps and connect and about the 30+ meetups we have hosted in Hyderabad
Later we had a local restaurateur, Junaid from Nayab restaurant share his thoughts on how reviews and photos by local guides bring visibility to his restaurant on a busy Street and the changes they have made following feedback from Local guides
There was a useful session by Ashis and Neidhi who gave us valuable tips to improve our Photography skills
As usual with all Google hosted events there was a vast buffet of the best foods from around the world including Hyderabadi Biryani for dinner
The evening ended with us being handed a bagful of memorable goodies
I would like to thank all the Googlers including @TiffanyBnyc , @cbos-NYC , @JuanCh , Max and others who have come from San Jose, Seattle, New York and London to our beautiful city and hosting this wonderful event which was a experience of a life time for many Local guides and a wish come true for me.
