Having been apart of Local Guides for many years without even knowing that I have been apart of a real community. I recently received a email about the up coming summit, interested I opened the email and read it carefully to happily find I liked what I read.
I wanted to share how its impacted me, being a local guide and all. But I have been having difficulty putting it into words so I wrote a little poem.
I am Magic
We are all the sum of our experiences,
some forget that,
some have forgotten what magic it is to have discovered something for the first time,
taken for granted our memories of discovery and experience.
For me it was every foot step taken to find the path that I am on now,
and for a while I had Forgotten.
I had forgotten the discovery of walking off a plane in a new place,
every step taken towards a new adventure,
the first breath of Sea Air, Never had I known the smell of the Meditterian air.
OR
The tired aces of my feet that had led me up and up a train to a castle in the sky.
OR
along the shaded drive to a palace in the forest,
Or
the many miles walked in light of self reflection to an unseen destination.
Now many years later the details are a blur,
they no longer come to me, not without provocation, a picture, a travel show or a friend asking about my adventures.
But the magic remails,
in the quiet of meditation,
under a cloudy sky,
I begin again to remember the excitement of every discovery,
combing through my memories,
pulling them again to the surface.
This time I will write them down,
to share my experiences from a local to a local,
or to a new adventurer guided by passion and love.
I shall again set my eyes on discovery & with my friends I shall Share.
I am Magic,
You are Magic,
Remember the Magic within.

I have for a long time dismissed poetry thinking that no one really wanted to read what I had to say, in partaking in the local guides program I have slowly been reminded that people will read what I have to say, and though reviews are not poetry, it has given me confidence to again chase my dreams of becoming a poet.
Thank you for the ever expanding Local Guides program, it has helped me find my voice again.
