Coffee Lover So I Am!
I am so crazy about coffee.
I had my first coffee when I was about 16; drank it in school to help stay awake for studying and last-minute essay writing. I drank it only rarely and with LOTS of milk and sugar. For caffeine fixes I was always a Coke girl. I drank coffee sporadically through college as well, for the same reason - fuel for when it was time to cram or white-knuckle a writing assignment.
As a full-fledged coffee junkie, I love everything about it:
- The dark, rich flavor
- the smoky smell of a fresh pot brewing
- the comforting warmth of a steaming mug on a cold day
- the calming and meditative ritual of measuring, brewing, pouring and sipping in the pre-dawn quiet when I have the house to myself
- the pre-work conversation with my husband over a couple of cups in the bedroom before getting ready for the day
- the weekend afternoon perk-up that keeps me going into the evening
- the respite (however brief) that grabbing a cup offers during the drudgery of a day at the office
Sometimes I worry about my caffeine dependence but I don’t drink THAT much coffee - probably less than a pot a day.
Espresso is nice, too.
