Classic Tomb of Nisar Begum.

Nisar Begum’s Tomb, Khusro Bagh Khuldabad Prayagraj UP India.

The reality was that I did not know much about Khusro Bagh situated in Prayagraj UP, only that at the time of the revolution of 1857, it was the operating center of Molavi Liaquat Ali, who was the head of the Sepoy Revolt, which the British had regained in a few weeks.

Tourism inspires vision and curiosity and provides interesting information that surprises, or depresses. The preserved monuments built four hundred years ago in the rectangular Garden surrounded by the walls reflect the Mughals’ immense interest in buildings and gardens and gave a new dimension to the building style which is popularly known as Mughal Architecture. Nisar or Nithar Begum’s Tomb is a such splendid edifice. This building presents a classic and vasty example of Mughal architecture. Nisar Begum’s name was Sultanun Nisa Begum, the elder sister of Prince Khusro, and the daughter of Jahangir and Manbhavati later she was known as Shah Begum and first wife of Prince Salim. This wonderful tomb was built by Nisar Begum herself during her lifetime but she was not buried in this tomb.
It’s built on a raised platform Jagged motifs are there on the edges of the platform, and the walls are decorated with arches and niches. There are steps on either side of the archway leading to the ground floor which is protected by stone overhangs supported by stone brackets, and the main entrance is a grand archway built on the platform. There is a beautiful balcony with arches and paintings are made on the ceiling of the archway. Main dome is resting on the octagonal base over the roof, and there are umbrellas on all the four corners. Tourists can visit the platform but entry inside the mausoleum is prohibited.
This tomb is built of sandstone, and it’s a main attraction for architecture and art lovers.
