Clarification on "Chong" Location Along Cambodia-Thailand Border

Dear Local Guides Connect Community,

I’ve encountered an issue on Google Maps where the term “Chong” is being used to describe a location along the Cambodia-Thailand border, but it seems to be inside Cambodia’s boundary. The term “Chong” does not appear to be a recognized Cambodian word, and I’m trying to understand why it’s shown this way on the map. I have a few questions that I’d like the community’s input on:

  1. Why is the term “Chong” used to describe a location along the Cambodia-Thailand border on Google Maps, even though it doesn’t seem to be a recognized Cambodian word or name?
  2. Could this be a result of a mapping error or mislabeling on Google Maps, especially considering the complexities of border regions?
  3. Is there any historical, cultural, or linguistic connection between the term “Chong” and the border region, possibly influenced by neighboring Thailand or local ethnic groups?
  4. Why hasn’t an official Cambodian name been applied to this area, and how could we address this discrepancy?
  5. How can we report and correct map labeling discrepancies on Google Maps to ensure locations are accurately represented, especially if the location lies within Cambodia’s boundaries?

For reference, here is the link to the Google Map I found, where the issue occurs: Chong Location Map

I’d appreciate any insights or advice on how to resolve this, or if there’s anything we can do to get the map information corrected.

Thank for information Bong, Now I am done fixed!

Very nice bong to raise this issues up :folded_hands:t3: Appreciated.

This is a problem that sometimes requires a key person to manage the map in Cambodia. We are happy to be a part of this and thank @ViasnaPhon for working so hard.

You have a link to a CVS file and a dead link. Maybe sharing your data on a Google My Maps would be more helpful.

Also, please specify which language you observe the problem in.
