Paris, the moveable feast (by Hemingway), is one of my favorite cities I’ve ever visited. The light of Paris enlightens innumerable writers, philosophers, artists, and those who are fortunate enough to visit it. A few years ago, I had a chance to study in a small town not too far from Paris and was lucky enough to visit this belle city several times. Frankly speaking, Paris isn’t a “perfect” place to live or stay, instead, it’s a place where people usually have that “love-hate” feelings. But I guess that’s what makes it so memorable and stay with us wherever we go.
Today’s location
Paris, the capital of France, also known as “La Ville-Lumière”, the city of lights.
The story behind the photos
What’d you think of when you hear Paris? La tour Eiffel, Champs-Élysées, or le Musée du Louvre. I guess pretty much all of these. Well, at least that’s exactly what I thought (along with crepes, macarons, croissants, etc.) before my visit. Museums, patisseries, and La Provence are 3 places brought me to France, so that I didn’t expect much to see street graffiti or street art then. Also, the conservation of historical architecture (which is almost the whole downtown Paris) is highly valued by the government of Paris. Thus, when I unexpectedly spotted a graffiti, the surprise I got is even bigger.
It’s been such a long time since I last visited Paris that I definitely need to go again and refresh my memories! Paris to me has its own vibe and reminds me of older times. I always think of Woody Allen’s ‘Midnight in Paris’ and that’s exactly how I see it.
There were many things I liked, but mostly I think Luxembourg park. I think there is so much to see that once is not enough. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing your experience with me! Paris is indeed more than a once-in-a-lifetime destination. Every time I visit it, I have different feelings, and my impression of this city is being refreshed again and again. Like you, Paris does remind me of older times. What makes it so special is that it seems never going out of style. I guess that’s what we call classy.
Speaking of Jardin du Luxembourg, I really love the green park chairs they place, which could be found not only in Jardin du Luxembourg but also in Tuileries and Palais-Royal. Though it may not be physically comfortable, it’s definitely become a Parisian symbol.
Thank you for your comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the post!
Paris is indeed a wonder which makes every photo taken here looks perfect, especially on sunny days. Pity that some photos I shared in this post were taken on cloudy days, but well, I hope it doesn’t hurt.
Paris is probably on the top list of the most famous or the most visit-wanted cities on earth. Like you, before I visited it, I’ve already heard and seen lots about it. And with that high expectation, people may have different experiences, some are positive, some are negative. Luckily, mine is really worth it. There’s still something about Paris I don’t like, but I think it happens to every city, I guess. After all, there’s no perfect place.
Thank you for sharing these pictures with me! Was the second photo taken in La Défense?
Paris is indeed a place that keeps brings people back. My last visit was in 2015 but the scenes in my memory are still so bright that feel like yesterday!
I’ve never stepped into La Defense but I know it’s a newer area, a business district. I really need to put it on my list when next time visiting Paris. I really want to see the iconic monument, Grande Arche!
Thank you for the good comment! I’m glad you liked the post.
Montmartre is one of my favourite neighborhoods in Paris. It really has something, the artsy chic vibe. And the Wall of Love is a beautiful installation, very romantic.
I have been to paris last year n visit all the tourist place but couldn’t indulge myself much on the other hand the street art small cafes and flea market was more fascinating
The city is beautiful even from the little I see from the pics. A lot of amazing wall graffitis. I had not chance to visit Paris the Last time I was in Germany but too busy to even think of travelling Paris. Paris is certainly visit in the nearest future - the city is renowned all over the world.
