From Hargovind Enclave with a Plate Full of Happiness!

Some food joints serve a meal. Others serve a craving that keeps bringing you back!

Delhi’s love affair with Chole Bhature is legendary. From the bustling lanes of Old Delhi to neighbourhood eateries across the capital, this quintessential Punjabi combination has found a special place in the hearts of food lovers. Continuing my gastronomic journey through Delhi’s Chole Bhature destinations, Episode 23 takes me to Shri Radhe Krishna Chole Bhature in Hargovind Enclave, Karkardooma, East Delhi.

A neighbourhood favourite

Located at 118, Hargovind Enclave, opposite the DDA Market, Shri Radhe Krishna Chole Bhature has carved out a place for itself among the popular food destinations of East Delhi.

While I could not find a reliably documented account of the restaurant’s founding year or the people behind its beginnings, its established local presence and considerable customer following suggest that it has built its reputation through the simple formula of serving familiar North Indian comfort food.

The outlet has been featured in Delhi food guides and is frequently recommended for its Chole Bhature. Its popularity also extends to its lassi, making it a favourite combination for those looking for a satisfying breakfast or an indulgent meal.

The star of the show – Chole Bhature!

What makes this combination so irresistible? It is the coming together of two contrasting yet complementary elements.

The chole, prepared with chickpeas and a carefully balanced blend of Indian spices, form the heart of the dish. The bhature, deep-fried until beautifully puffed up, provide the perfect accompaniment. Add some sliced onions, tangy pickle and chutney, and you have a plate that captures the essence of Delhi’s street-food culture.

A glass of chilled lassi alongside this hearty combination can make the experience even more satisfying.

Why is it popular?

Shri Radhe Krishna’s appeal lies in its reputation as a dedicated destination for Chole Bhature, its neighbourhood following and its straightforward North Indian menu. The combination of a filling meal, familiar flavours and the option of accompanying it with lassi has helped it attract food lovers from the surrounding areas.

It is also a pure vegetarian establishment, which makes it a convenient choice for those looking for vegetarian North Indian food.
