"Chinese Eat Dogs" & Other Fake Rumors About China

Being a Local Guide often means also being in touch with different cultures and exploring them without any prejudice or by judging them basing on stereotypes. That’s why I have focused myself on a community I am very near to, having many friends inside this community: a community with a lot of history, which is the Chinese community.

Among Western people many stereotypes regarding Chinese people are very common, but these stereotypes are actually fake. In my new video I am dealing with these stereotypes.

Did you know some of these? Do you love Chinese culture like me?

Wish a happy new year to everybody, I hope you are celebrating it with your family or your friends!

Thank you for your informative video! As a person who has lived in China for some time, I totally agree with you. Unfortunately many people think that China is undeveloped country and its people eat “everything that has legs”. Actually this is a wonderful country where you can try amazing dishes just by saying 我要这个

Happy New Year and all the best! Keep making great videos!

Hi @RadieN and thank you so much for having shown your appreciation. I personally love Chinese food and China culture in general. This summer I’ll be in China for a month (mostly Hunan region) and will do a lot of local guiding also, considering Google Maps lacks so many information about restaurants in China and censorship is not surely helping: so hope to fill Google Maps with some new photos about the amazing places I’ll visit in China so that in the future people will be able to see a little more of China on Google Maps.

And honestly my country is so full of prejudices against China, but at least in my city (Milan) I see a lot of people opening their mind about this beautiful country, and despite there are still many Authentic restaurants in which I’m the only Italian to post reviews among many Chinese people, there are also many others, even hotpot restaurants, in which I’m starting to see also locals reviewing these places. This makes me a little hopeful that more and more people will start discovering not only the true taste of China, but also the real facts about this wonderful country, so that people with prejudices will have less and less space in the future.

wish you a happy new year too!

Thank you for your enthusiasm @user_not_found ! Your contributions on Google Maps will be beneficial for people who want to visit China and future customers of the restaurants. The information that is available to non-Chinese speakers is still limited so it’s more than great to have people like you.

I wish you a safe and pleasant trip. Don’t forget to post your impressions and photos here
