Chikmagalur - A Land of Mountains where Nature at its best

Hi everyone,

It’s been a long time I have written a post. I did really missed Connect and the Local Guides friends. I recently visited a place called Chikmagalur, a tourist spot in the Northern Karnataka. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting an amazing nature experience when I was leaving to Chikmagalur. And It took around 5 hours of journey by Car from Bengaluru to Chikmagalur. The roads are in good condition. Many Restaurants are available on the road side. I have stayed in Shreys Inn Hotel for 2 days and it is located in the city itself. The stay was good. Let me come from the time I reached Chikmagalur now. When I was reaching Chikmagalur, I was surprised as I couldn’t see any hilly area while reaching the city and I thought to myself the place is how I thought and I couldn’t expect much from this place. Then It was around evening I reached the city and I went to the Hotel. The climate started getting chilled in the night and I was happy. After talking with the Hotel management, we booked for the one day trip in Chikmagalur. There are package where if we pay for the package trip, they will take us in their vehicle and show us around the Chikmagalur. We opted for it. The next day morning, there was a vehicle and driver ready for us to take us and show the Chikmagalur.

We left by 7AM and then the fun started. I can see the nature’s beauty. The hilly places and I started enjoying the amazing view. Then I realised that the way we reach from Bengaluru to Chikmagalur, it does not have hilly areas. It is on the other side where the beauty of Chikmagalur is present. We had a breakfast once we started leaving the Hotel. Then I realised how view from Hotel to outside can make you happy.

We first visited the Siri Cafe. It is one of the top places to visit in Chikmagalur. We took some photos there. You can see a women lying in the photo.

Then we left that place in some 15 minutes and the driver took us towards the hill. Believe me, I was just mesmerised and in short of words when we were driving up the hill.

We then came to the top of the Hill and we parked the vehicle. It seemed to be the end point in that direction. The climate was ultimate and there was a some hill which we can go by walk. There were around 500 steps one way to reach the hill top. We walked to the Hill and It was wonderful.

Then the driver took us to other place and on the way he stopped the vehicle on a view point. The view was really amazing.

We then went to a water falls. We took some great photos. I was able to only stand in that water and it was extremely cold. The crowd was less only and climate was really chill.

Later, the driver took us to a view point which became the favorite place in Chikmagalur. He told it is the movie shooting spot and its called as.360 point. When I walked towards the view point, I then realised why it’s called as 360 point. It’s because from that view point if you see at any side, you can only see the nature and I remember saying that let me be here you all guys pick me up when you be back. The place was that great. I really wanted just to sit there and give some time to myself. We took some great photos and then left that wonderful place.

We then visited the hill top and the hill view was second to none. As we were enjoying the view, we saw myst coming from one side and covering us. I could rarely see someone standing at a distance. It was a breathtaking moment.

After sometime when we were leaving the place, it started raining and I got totally drenched. I was shivering due to cold and I enjoyed every inch of it. It was around evening we get down from the hill and went to the same hotel and had lunch. After having delicious food, we get back to the Hotel and I thanked the driver for giving us the wonderful moment of showing some great places in Chikmagalur. We checked out the Hotel the next day and get back to Bengaluru and I am happy that I was able to visit the Chikmagalur and came back with great memories.

I hope you all enjoyed reading my experience at Chikmagalur. It is indeed a wonderful place and I am sure and In Sha Allah, I will visit this place some day.

Have a nice day! :slightly_smiling_face:
