Chicken Shawarma is a popular street food which comes under the Middle Eastern cuisine. It mainly consists of marinated chicken/lamb pieces cut in the form of thin slices, the stack of the thin slices will be piled up in a cone-like shape and later will be roasted on a slowly turning vertical grill. Shawarma is considered by many as the one of the world’s most popular street foods, especially in the Middle Eastern countries and the Arabian Peninsula.
The local restaurants in my part of region, usually, serves the chicken shawarma wrapped in a pita bread along with the “Toum” (Garlic sauce variety) and French fries. Some restaurants also add pickles in the shawarma sandwich. I visited few Turkish restaurants during my visit to Germany and Switzerland, they do add cooked lentils along with rice in a chicken shawarma platter.

This makes me so hungry @fasi6083 ! There is not a time of day where I would turn down shawarma. It has made a big impact on the Danish street food scene too over the past 20 years.
Many small shops has started appearing in and around Copenhagen and even in the smaller towns. Each town usually has one shop that makes amazing shawarma and they all claim that their town has the best one.

Thanks for sharing very fascinating pictures of Schwarma
- it is very popularly in India
as well and everyone is well aware that it is from middle-east, specifically most people think it is from Iran
As for India is concerned this is more popular in the southern part in cities like Bangalore but surprisingly not much in northern India which is the heartland of Indian cuisine.
In India, the Schwarma is served as a roller some time as a wrap but never loose as shown in your pictures. Shopkeepers refused to serve it loose so I purchased and discarded the wrap after coming back home.
Happy guiding
