Changing Location of a photo in Google Map

As you can see in I posted these photos without a location name (Unknown Place). Now I want to give their original location. But I didn’t find any option to change location name. How I change it to the original location?

Hi @Md_Hasanuzzaman

Great question. And thanks for checking your photo contributions for such issues.

You can delete the photos and re-upload them to another place if they are relevant to the new place.

Please note that this operation will cause you to lose the views you already earned. There is no way to transfer photos and at the same time preserve the views.

Hope this helps.

Morten

PS If you don’t have the originals stored somewhere, please don’t forget to save a copy before you delete them.

Thank you so much @MortenCopenhagen . I appreciate your options.

I think Google should take action about this feature.

Hi @Md_Hasanuzzaman

In that case you should present a proposal in the Idea Exchange. Mayby having local guides move photos of other local guides to the correct pins should be included. Just a thought.

Cheers

Hello @Md_Hasanuzzaman

While posting, we can not do so in an unknown place.

Possibly the spot you posted the photos is permanently closed now. You have to check that first.

Further, I observed another glitch in the program. Some places are open seasonally. At the end of the season when the program marks these places as temporarily closed, the photos get duplicated with the label “Unknown place”. Still, the pics continue at the right place also. That’s another aspect to be verified.

Thanks, @MortenCopenhagen @C_T . Actually I uploaded those which didn’t pick the location. But now I see that there are original location lies. But I can’t do any change.

I have marked the answer of @MortenCopenhagen as the solution @Md_Hasanuzzaman as it is correct.

@C_T that usually happens when a Local Guide includes a photo on “Add a new place” and that addition is not applied.

Thanks for the information @PaulPavlinovich

However, that doesn’t explain why the photos which I posted at Keukenhof (Netherlands) suddenly happened to be in an unknown place.

Were the panospheres or flat photos @C_T ?

Paul

Regret, I am a mobile phone photographer. Neither I own any 360-degree attachment nor I post Panos.

@PaulPavlinovich

Keukenhof is a seasonal place that opens in March & closes in May every year.

Any one knows the how to edit Unknown Place to Correct location. If not available that option Im requesting to create that option from Google Map team because it very useful for every one.

If we are removing and re adding the correct location we will lose the view count in that images. because this location still existing and I don’t have any idea how it removed.

Google Map Team kindly see the my request.

We can not edit the places which is already marked as ‘Unknown Place’. You can add the place again. But the former photo views will not be counted as you mentioned. @Bobiisha , Can you help him?

Hi @dsuranga and @parthapratim134

I agree that we currently don’t have a way to fix the “Unknown place”-problem. The problem happens when we add a place and attach some photos to prove the existence of a new place. And if the creation of a new place is not approved those photos are not ON a place.

When this happens to me I usually delete those photos. Then I consider to try creating the place again, but first I check if someone else has been successful in creating the place. And I make sure to gather even more data on the place (web-site, phone number, opening hours, established data, etc).

Your suggestion to make it possible to move those photos need the new place to already exist. And most often it does not! So I think it is difficult to solve this problem.

It is a very good idea to add photos when trying to create a new place. And on the other hand we risk this problem.

Making it a lot easier to create new places is probably not the best way to solve the problem. Daily I find many spam or dead places that needs to be removed.

This was just a few arguments, to complicate the problem. I wish there was an easy solution.

Hi, @dsuranga

I hope you have read the above two comments. To solve this problem you need to add the correct information and place from place to place.

thank your post.

Hey @dsuranga ,

Thanks for reaching out to us and @parthapratim134 thank you for the tag!

I just wanted to let you know that I will merge your post to a similar discussion, that has a solution provided by @MortenCopenhagen . I believe that you will find the information needed in the mentioned thread. Have in mind that this is how we keep the forum organized.

Yes, @MortenCopenhagen we need new option to move this Photos to new location or adding to the existing location without deleting this photos.

Hi, @GaziSalauddinbd ,

Location is correct, problem is some one delete the location and creating again in another name. this are still existing locations

Thanks @Bobiisha ,

as per my concern that not enough for me because once delete the Photos we will loos the View count in the pictures see below image

This image 133120 views like that 10 image 1M views we will loos and this all location still existing not removed location, If this location removed its OK but location still existing but shoving Unknown

Problem is some one removed the location and recreate with other name thats why we need new option to move this pictures to new location or can create new location name without delete the images

Hi @dsuranga

I understand you want this new feature. But make sure to check your photo contributions regularly since this will enable you to delete and re-upload such photos early and hence not lose a lot of views.

Cheers

Morten

Thank you @MortenCopenhagen

I think once this location change to Unknown Place, that image not showing google map because its not tag to any location some of my image over 100K views like 10 image mean 1M views I will lose, thats why im worry
