Cenotes; at Coba, Mexico

There are different types of Cenotes, few of them are basically underwater caves, others are like sinkhole with open top that show the sky… You can find them in the in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. On my last trip to Mexico on 2018, my wife and I, visit the Cenote Multum Ha in Coba.

In this adventure, You walk down a 18 meter wood and stone round stair. As you go down. The natural light start to vanish and your vision start to modify to the low light of electrical bulbs that are inside the cave. You arrive at a wood deck, where you can leave your towel, and sandals, to go inside the cold water. The average temperature of water is 25° Celsius. You need to have a life jacket to swim in the Cenote. They only let you be there for few minutes. Back again in the Deck you can dry and pick up you belongings, then start to walk up the same wood and stone 18 meter stair. A complete adventure. Hey, if you don’t like closed areas, Yucatan have also a lot of open top Cenote, I visit them also, but the walking down stair were longer.

Hi, @Nosaint2_Rafael_Fe , I first heard about Cenotes a few weeks ago during a virtual meet-up (thanks @LightRich for introducing it to me) and I fell in love. It is at the top of my travel bucket list now. I’m glad that you had a great time there!

Wow…! it’s so exciting to see that such a small entrance on the ground opens up to a great space underground and also a water body.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the information @Nosaint2_Rafael_Fe
