Cempasúchil: Día de Muertos flower

Yesterday I took this photo after buying these flowers that are very special to Mexican culture.

On Día de Muertos we honour the life of the ones that have passed away, is a really colorful celebration thanks to this flower, also known as Marigold or Tagetes.

This flower is used on Día de Muertos to decorate graves and petals are used to create a path that ends in the ofrenda (altar dedicated to a person with all their favorite food) the tradition says that its color and scent guides the soul of our family member who have died, from the cemetery to their homes.

If you have seen “Coco” you will remember that the bridge that goes to the world of the dead is made of petals of this flower

This flower in India called as Mary Gold and very common every where in India @LaloPadilla .Particularly in Odisha,India you can found every one House.Its also found on farming field.This Mary Gold Flower offer to God and Goddess as well as it is used for decoration of different things in India.

Here in Mexico the harvest begins in the firts days of october. There are a lot of amazing pictures of the fields covered in yellow/orange color.

That´s right @Sophia_Cambodia A lot of streets in Mexico are decorated with these flowers during these days and it looks really colorful

In Mexico the most famous is the orange, others are yellow and White.

What other colors are there where you live?

This flower available every where in Odisha,India with yellow,orange,Red and light Yellow colours.Available with small,middle and Big Sizes.This flowers used in India for worshiping Lord, Decorations in Houses,Temples,Vehicles and many more things…This is very common here @LaloPadilla .

Hermosa foto, ¿Sabías que estas flores deben sembrarse el día de San Juan? el 24 de junio, según marca la tradición en algunos lugares de Oaxaca, es el día especial para que están listas en la festividad del día de muertos.

Nunca he visitado Oaxaca, está en mi lista de lugares por visitar y estoy seguro de que será increíble
