Celebrating the 69th Karnataka Rajyotsava – The Spirit of Our Land 💛❤️

November 1st holds a special place in the hearts of all Kannadigas — it marks Karnataka Rajyotsava, the day when our beloved state was formed in 1956 by merging all Kannada-speaking regions under the name Mysore State.

Later, on November 1, 1973, the state was officially renamed Karnataka, symbolizing unity and pride among Kannadigas across different regions — from Karavali and Malenadu to Bayaluseeme and Hyderabad-Karnataka.

Every year, this day is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the state. Red and yellow flags wave proudly, the Nada Geethe (Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate) echoes in every corner, and vibrant cultural programs showcase Karnataka’s rich heritage — Yakshagana, Dollu Kunita, Veeragase, Kolata, and many more traditional art forms.

Government offices and landmarks are lit up beautifully, and achievers in various fields are honored with the prestigious Rajyotsava Awards — recognizing their contribution to the progress of the state.

As a proud Local Guide from Karnataka, I take this opportunity to celebrate our state’s diversity — from the royal heritage of Mysuru and the ancient ruins of Hampi to the tranquil hills of Coorg and the coastal charm of Udupi and Gokarna. Each place has a story that reflects the heart of Namma Karnataka.

Let’s continue to explore, map, and share the incredible beauty, culture, and hospitality of Karnataka with the world through Google Maps and Local Guides Connect!
