For many of us, mothers embody unconditional love and support. They encourage us to grow and become better versions of ourselves.
This Sunday, May 10, is Mother’s Day in most countries around the world. To celebrate this holiday, fellow Google Moderators @PoliMC , @DeniGu , and I want to share with you some of the reasons we feel proud of and thankful to our moms. Please feel free to do the same in the comments below.
@TsekoV : "Мy mom means the world to me. She has been my brother’s and my supporting pillar since the day we were born. She is the one who taught me how to be the independent person that I am today. Her love and care were the strong foundations that made us become good human beings.
I feel like a lifetime is not enough to express my gratitude to my mother. She has set many good examples for me to follow. She showed me how to be thoughtful, how to put my heart into everything I do, how to respect every living being, knowing that we are all part of the same world.
No matter how far away I dream of going, or what goals I set, I always love to come back home. This is the place where I belong and where I can reciprocate the attention and love that my family gives me.”
@DeniGu : "Anyone who knows my mom would agree that she’s a strong-willed woman. She has her own opinion about everything and does things her way. And her way has always been the best way for our family.
Every Christmas Eve, we follow the Christian tradition of preparing a meal without meat and dairy. For a long time, I believed that the soft, fluffy pitka bread that my mom makes every year also followed these guidelines. It wasn’t until two years ago, however, when I realized that nothing about this bread followed the tradition. It had everything: yeast, eggs, butter, milk, and more.
That’s how my mom showed me, in a very subtle way, that sometimes I didn’t need to follow convention. It’s alright to do things my way, to show my character. So I learned how to bake this bread myself.”
@PoliMC : "There are many lessons that I learned from my mother. The one I appreciate the most is about how precious the family connections are, and how important respect and moral values are within a family.
I’m so thankful that my mom always had my back while I was growing up, and still does, even when I make mistakes. I feel lucky to have her so close that she can show me how to be a good person and how to keep my head high in challenging times. When I was a teenage girl, I was confused about and easily distracted from what was important to me. I believed that I knew better than my mom how life worked. As time passed, however, I realized that I had subconsciously applied most of her lessons in my daily life, and it turned out that she was right for pretty much everything.
In most cases, mothers are the ones who build strong bonds within a family and who create comfort and security. I hope one day to create the same homely atmosphere that my mother made for us. That’s why I decided to share the photo above as a symbol of my wonderful family, where the blossoms represent the great years and memories we’ve had together. Thank you, mom!”
