This Independence Day, I wanted to celebrate in a slightly different way by exploring my hometown and supporting a local business.
As a remote worker and content creator, I love discovering cozy cafés where I can work with my laptop, relax, enjoy good food, and take a few photos along the way. That journey recently brought me to Lentera Eatery & Pastry, a charming local café just around five minutes from Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang.
I loved its modern, playful, and photo-friendly concept. It has both smoking and non-smoking areas, a cozy outdoor space, and an atmosphere that works for everyone — from young people looking for a cute place to hang out to families and more mature visitors.
The menu offers both traditional and international dishes, but the pastries were definitely one of my favorites. Good food, a relaxing atmosphere, and a cute setting — pretty much everything I look for when exploring a new place.
Lentera Eatery & PastryWhat made the visit even more special was seeing the café celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day with Indonesian-themed decorations and special promotions. I was happy to celebrate by visiting, enjoying the experience, and supporting a local business and yes, enjoying the Independence Day discounts was a lovely bonus!
For me, this is what makes exploring local businesses meaningful. A simple café visit can be a way to discover hidden gems, support the local economy, and appreciate the people who continue to create something new in our city.
So, if you have some extra time during a transit at Ahmad Yani International Airport, consider stepping outside the airport and discovering a local café like Lentera Eatery & Pastry. You might find your next favorite spot while giving a little support to the local community.
This year, my Independence Day celebration was simple:
Explore. Enjoy. Share. Support local.
