Celebrate World Public Transport Day With Me

Hy Local Guides,

Today is celebrated and viewed as World Public Transport Day ( November 10th ). This day serves a purpose to focus our thoughts for the public transportation in our city and country. Public transportation is important for the public and country where it helps both of them for their purpose. Public transportation also helps us to get from Point A to Point B with a low price and with low driving tension of ourselves driving.

Theme for 2024 : Connecting communities and Reducing emissions.

As the theme is reducing emissions, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations are valuable. I request every local guide to submit new EV stations to Google maps if you haven’t seen it in Google maps but you visited that station.

There’s different types of public transportations around us:

  • Bus
  • Auto
  • Railway Metro
  • Water Metro
  • Railway
  • Air ways
  • Cab services

How you can contribute in this day:

  • Giving reviews of public transportations like metro stations/railway stations you visited.
  • Editing or including in reviews like wheelchair Accessibility :wheelchair: and bathrooms.

What new features can come forward!

  • In my country, cab and auto service will have a permanent location and it might be easy to take the service from there. It might be good if Google maps shows category as “Cab point” or “Auto point”
  • There’s lot more two wheeler electric charging points than Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. Difference is the station can be used by two and four wheeler but charging points can only be used by two wheelers. Nowadays there’s a lot more two and three electric wheeler public transportations, so as to avoid confusion; it’s wise to have a new category or have some symbol to show it for two wheelers/three wheelers.

Hello dear @Rahul001
Well written post… appreciate for dedicating this much time for the platform.
You know the public transport facilities available in Bangalore more than me.
Of course, I use flights & trains next to taxis.
Regards

Thank you @TravellerG for your valuable comments. Yes you are but you mostly knows most public transportation around India than me. Public transportation in Bangalore is so good that most people I know wouldn’t take their vehicle when they go for shopping.

Hi @Rahul001 an amazing post. If the distance is around 5km and there is no urgency, I mostly go by walk. Otherwise for short distances I use auto :auto_rickshaw: and for long distances use taxi :taxi:. Bus, train, aeroplane and ships I had travelled.

The above picture is the bus depot, during my recent travel from Thirumala.

Sorry for the late reply @Gurukrishnapriya . I mostly take bus but I rarely take auto because I loves walking. I visited thirumala once with family years ago. We also have same named place here in Trivandrum!
