Along De las Ferias in Tijuana sits an unassuming little restaurant built into an old, remodeled home: Casa Tijuana Project. This beautiful, homely little restaurant is the masterpiece of chef Juan Cabrera. The menu whispers seductively, it doesn’t boast—there are numerous classic Mexican breakfast dishes, some of which have little imaginative tweaks.
They also have a gorgeous menu of tasty and aesthetically pleasing cocktails! On top of it all, one of the biggest pluses here is the three homemade salsas.Dining here isn’t just having a meal—it’s an exquisite and carefully balanced culinary excursion into some of the best of Mexico’s cuisine. Casa Tijuana Project is the perfect Tijuana eatery in which to have great coffee, a delectable and filling meal, and a few elegant alcoholic beverages.
Although it’s not just a breakfast restaurant, breakfast might be the best meal at the Project. I highly recommend the barbacoa, the rojos chilaquiles with eggs, and the huevos motulenos. (In fact, they have 4 or 5 variations of chulaquiles—the mole is quite good too!)
