Carnival is back in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago hosts the largest Carnival in the Caribbean. This incredibly important cultural event was not held due to the pandemic last year but the bacchanal returns in 2022. Carnival runs from February 28th - March 1st.

Carnival has its roots in freedom - freedom from oppression. Celebrate in whatever you can. Everyone has their own interpretation and experience with carnival. Some may go for the food or musics, for others it’s the music.

One of the major events in the Steel Pan competition. The pan (drums) originates in Trinidad and has been a traditional part of carnival celebrations. Pan is often used outside of Trinidad at carnivals or other celebrations like festivals and weddings.

Nice post, @KSKS - great to hear that Carnival is coming back finally! Here in Miami, festivities returned last year, albeit modified due to COVID-19 conditions, so really looking forward to things happening here in the fall.

Although, I know the bacchanal here in Miami pales in comparison to what goes on in T&T, so Iooking forward to any photos you have to share from this weekend - I know fellow Caribbean guides such as @DwaineLoobyRIP & @anu7spice would appreciate them as well.

@SP31 thank you for the recommendations. I’ll have to check out their content as well. Enjoy the bacchanal!
