Aliakmonas (also Haliacmon and Aliakmon) is the longest Greek river (total length of 297 km - flows entirely in Greece) and a big part of it flows inside the Grevena region. According to the Greek mythology, Haliacmon was one of the sons of Oceanus and Tethys.
I visited several locations and tried to capture the beauty of this gorgeous river. It is a very clear river as there is no heavy industry around it. With various species of fish inside and even more species of birds above it. There are also locations, especially between the Felli and Agapi villages where you can enjoy rafting tours in Aliakmon.
I absolutely love your photos! What a beautiful place it is. Did you make a long exposure on the second photo? I’m sure that hiking there is really amazing and energizing. Do you often go hiking in this region?
@ThomasBiziouras super! Are you planning to make some travels for this upcoming year? Somewhere in Greece or abroad? There is still so much to see in Greece, especially the islands for me. I love the nature and sea.
@DanniS Yes some of the places that I will surely visit this year are Meteora, Halkidiki and Metsovo. I hope to also visit the Tzoumerka area. I visited several islands when younger, no such plans for this year though. My fav Greek island is Skiathos
