Being an avid traveller and a huge foodie, Google Maps has been more than a companion on my trips. I use it as a guide for directions, a fact checker, a source of genuine feedback from other users and even to identify the best places to eat out in my area.
Today Google Maps has transformed itself from just a map direction platform to a unified and integrated platform that enables the traveller to eliminate at least 5 other apps from his/her phone. Take for example - a hotel booking app, restaurant finder app, a telephone directory app, a source for genuine reviews from users and to have the entire information of an establishment.
As an avid traveller, I love contributing to Google Maps information required for tourists and outsiders. This includes public transport information, affordable stays, food options, timings of major tourist spots and how to get there. This kind of information is rarely available on any other platform and is a huge boon to a tourist like me, looking to explore a new area. I make it a point to check for facts in a tourist spot, leave a review about my hotel stay and food and always capture photos that best convey to others about a place.
Having travelled to over 72 cities in my country and over 5 countries across the globe and having contributed over 2000 photos with nearly 2 million views with a total of 17000+ points, I could say that my travel diaries are incomplete without Google Maps. The timeline feature captures my journey and reminds me of the memories when I look back at it.
Today I am confident of entering a completely new place, not knowing the language - but able to manage myself with the Google Maps ecosystem. My aim is to make every city or town friendly for tourists and outsiders, enabling them to have a memorable experience
