Hi friends,
I am in a problem with uploading photos to Google maps. Can someone help me.
@Seedra That is so strange. Were you uploading the jpg output? I personally haven’t seen this issue before.
Can you put a sample photo in Google drive and share here, so we can have a look. Has this just happened recently, ie you could do it before, but only now has a problem?
I had the same problem…I took some pictures with my canon and try to upload and had the same issue…The fix: Upload the pictures on your phone, then open picture in your camera editor and saved it from there. That will compress the picture for you to upload to connect…I hope this helps.
@Mallewis You are right about Connect has a limit of 3MB for each photo shared, that’s mainly to ensure the site is fast and responsive. Link here.
Google Maps does not have a small size limitation for photos though. Haven’t read anywhere if there is a limit, but I am relatively sure most sizes of DSLR single shot output should be acceptable. This is likely a different issue.
My issue might be because I shoot in raw.
My issue might be because I shoot in raw. Thanks for the clarification @StephenAbraham
Thank you @Mallewis That solution is best but the problem is, I have a lots of photos. I am going to upload my last tour (9 days) photos to Google map. so it is not easy to me.
@Mallewis Raw files are not supported as far as I know. So, you will need to do the necessary to convert to jpg.
Yep, if you try to upload RAW it gives you such error (only to conserve space).
for ConnectLive its 3MB photo size limit
cheers
Thank you @OmerAli
@StephenAbraham Photo size is 7 MB so it can’t even upload to this post. I thins that is the issue.
@Seedra Was your issue about uploading to Maps or uploading to Connect?
I don’t believe Maps has a limit of size. some of my 360 panoramas to Maps that I uploaded are over 10MB.
However, Connect has a limit of 3MB per photo.
If you want us to check / confirm, upload to Google Drive and share the link here. So we can take a look at a sample photo.
Thank you @StephenAbraham this is the link

@Seedra I used the same file you shared, and uploaded to Google Maps, and I can confirm that I can upload it to a location in Google Maps, and can be viewed by public (ie without my login). So your photo isn’t a problem. I didn’t do any manipulation or edits to your original photo.
I uploaded from my Windows 10 PC using Chrome browser using Google Maps in web.
*Note that, the photo is now deleted from that location since, it was only for a test.
If you are still having issues with upload, try another PC.
Thank you very much @StephenAbraham for your kind help. I will try again in another PC.
Hello @Seedra
I can give you a solution. If you have photoshop in your computer it’s very easy to convert them to jpeg or you can download the “Format Factory” software and you can easily convert your photos to jpeg. If you have LightRoom software it’s also much easy to convert your photos to jpeg and also you can export all your photos in the same format and the same size in a few clicks. You can also select a limit to like 3072k is the Connect photo limit. Check these tutorials below.

Let us know it works or not. If you think this a good solution please marked it.
Hello, @Seedra
I’m really sorry for attaching your photo without your permission in this comment. This the result after converting it with Lightroom. File size limited for 3072k. Please check the quality. Nothing changed but just the size and format. I found the issue. Google maps only allow us to upload 5MB photos only. You can drop down your file size a little bit and try again. Lightroom is the easiest way.
reduce the photo resolution it will upload fast, dslr pics file size is quite big.
