Cannot post Google Maps reviews – “Post” button unavailable in Android app

Hello Moderators,

I am a regular Local Guide and I am facing a persistent issue while posting reviews using the Google Maps Android app.

While selecting the star rating to review a place, the review text shows up but the “Post” button unavailable, making it impossible to submit the review. Clearing app storage temporarily restores the button, but the issue reappears once I try to write another review.

I had previously raised this feedback through the app, but there is no way to track the status, and the issue remains unresolved. This blocks contributions and affects continued participation in the Local Guides program.

Posting reviews works correctly on browser-based Google Maps, but this is not a convenient alternative compared to the app.

- Device: Pixel 8a

- Android version: 16

Kindly help escalate this issue or advise an official workaround.

After clearing the storage and cache, it shows up the Post button as shown below.

In glad to read that you already did most of the steps We normally would suggest to test and fix such issues. Well done.

The fact reviews work as normal on computers indicate that the issue is associated with your phone and not your account.

The fact that clearing the cache helps somewhat also supports that the issue is with your Pixel.

Next step would be to test if a re-install of the Google Maps app can fix the issue.

If not, escalation is the next step.

I’m using pixel phone and have a same issue.

To fix this, you need to switch from 3-button navigation to Gesture Navigation.
