Sharing Pueblo Stories via Google Maps In March 2020, the City of Pueblo will celebrate its 150th Anniversary. This event in Pueblo’s history serves as the ideal platform for exploring Pueblo’s neighborhoods which are rich in history, culture, arts and commerce. Whether you were born and raised in Pueblo and attended a local high school OR you made your way here from afar, this is the time to celebrate and explore Pueblo style by identifying, sharing and amplifying stories found in our community. This Meetup will be the first in a series of four programs led by Google Local Guide Gregory Howell who socializes ideas in the creative economy and serves as the chief storyteller and creative consultant at Watertower Place. We will meet in the Alpha Beta Room (2F) in the Administration Building on the north side of the former plant. Starting with Watertower Place, we will start to explore Pueblo, try new places and make friends. We will learn about best practices in mapping and storytelling with the goal of sharing Pueblo’s unique history and the story behind the story with locals and visitors alike. Dress comfortable and wear good walking shoes with support. Bring your camera and/or smartphone to take pictures and video, and you will need a small journal to take notes about new lessons and experiences. You will use your smartphone to access apps that will assist in your storytelling efforts. Share tips, discoveries, and news with the community for people on Google Maps
