Can’t rotate Photos in my post

Can’t rotate Photos

I am trying to make a post, then when I am inserting a picture, it is not coming straight in the right correct view, it is coming -90 anticlockwise rotated, and we don’t have any option to make the picture to be rotated +90 degree, to be in the right view.

Please advise me how to insert the pictures correctly.

Google Drive:

While inserting picture of videos, we don’t have the option, neither to pull picture from Drive, nor from Google photos, or at least I don’t know how.

Please advise me how to insert the pictures from these locations.

Best Regards.

Hello @Muhittin5000

Though the Connect site does not offer any means to rotate a wrongly aligned photo, any disorientation becomes apparent in the preview.

In that instance, you need editing that first either in Snap-seed or Google Photos and then only upload that on to Connect

To do that through Google photos, please follow the following steps.

  1. On the phone. At the bottom next to the share symbol, you will note the edit symbol consisting of three bars with sliders. Click that and in the next screen select the rotate option again appearing at the bottom middle.
  2. On the desktop, either click the three dots and select rotate or invoke the edit symbol.

Please note at both the places, the app allows rotation even through small incremental angles. Here is a screen shot of the same on the desktop.

Hi @Muhittin5000 Connect doesn’t have that kind of functionality at the moment, you can either upload photo from your computer or from a public URL.

Is the original photo rotated?

There is also a size limit of 3Mb. Every time I have to upload pics from my Google photos, I download them and use IrfanView’s batch functionality to reduce their resolution slightly so that they are not over 3mb.

Hi @Muhittin5000 unfortunately Connect doesn’t use the rotation metadata that is provided by your camera. I find the https://squoosh.app/ really handy as it can both set the rotation and resize the image for Connect all in one go and works with both phone and desktop really well.

Thank you all for replying @PaulPavlinovich @sparekh @C_T

The strange issue is my picture is showing correctly in my mobile and my laptop, only when I am inserting these photos to my post, then they are automatically coming rotated -90 degrees.
I made a test on one picture, I’ve opened it using Paints, then save as *.jpg, then insert it in the post, and it came fine. but doing this practice for 30-40 picture will be a headache.
So, to skip it for the time being, I made a work around, and merge these photos into single video and post it as URL.

https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/The-fish-market-in-Deira-Dubai/td-p/2328788#.XnnDAVGrvwc.link

Notice that the single picture there is rotated -90 degree.

Yes, your device is obeying the rotation metadata on your image @Muhittin5000 Connect does not.

Use squoosh.app

Remember that you have a 1,000 photo limit on Connect so the video approach or sharing an album from Google Photos or some other album store is advisable with one teaser to make the post look attractive as a thumbnail.
