Business closure not being accepted

I’ve tried numerous times to mark a local business as permanently closed and provided photographs of the closure notice in the shop window, screenshots of the announcement on various social media platforms and included the new business that is now operating from the site.

What can be done for this closure to be accepted?

Please share the Maps link + something to prove the closure below.

The previous business was Slipstitch, now Tash & Tanya.

Am not clear how to attach photos here. Shall I attach by email?

Here in this image from September 24 both stores are visible.

So it is unlikely that Google Maps replaced

You can just add a photo using this icon:

It is a lot harder to close a business when the owner has claimed his ownership.

You could reach out to the owner and suggest they close the place permanently.

They are not closed permanently. Only temporarily, as indicated here:

Digging deeper, you are correct.

This pin T&T (Tash & Tanya) has taken over the location.

I suggested Slipstitch closed permanently.

If not approved you should ask the owner.

Thanks for this. I live close to the store and have seen Slipstitch close at the end of July 2025 and Tash & Tanya open on 5 September, 4 days ago.

Is frustrating to see Slipstitch still represented on Maps when it no longer exists as a store and is therefore inaccurate and misleading. Also complicated by them having a small popup within Tash & Tanya, but are no longer the owner of the store. Should be able to mark it as ‘inside’ T&T.

Also, as Maps rely upon local knowledge for updates, disappointed I am unable to persuade that the information I am presenting is being rejected.

Found the image icon, thank you! Silly me :upside_down_face:

I’ve attached screenshots from both business accounts on Instagram and taken by me.

I already reached the conclusion that you are correct.

The guidelines do not allow a section inside a shop to have their own pin on Google Maps, so marking it as located inside is not a viable solution.

Online-only stores are also not eligible for a pin on Maps.

The correct solution is to mark it as permanently closed. This way it can still be found via a search on Maps.

If your and my attempts to close it are not successful, the next step is to seek help on this in the Google Business Profile Help Community. Let’s give it a few days.

Thanks so much Morten

Yes, even I experienced this issue recently. I uploaded a photo of the new business in the same location, but no luck yet. I will wait for a few more days to see if it gets accepted.

Check the thread. We are back to requesting the owners to close the pin.

Will you contact them via the website or Instagram. Attaching your photo of the new storefront might help.
