Burano Island: I need colors, colors is what I need :)

This month I had an opportunity to see probably the most colorful place in Europe! I mean Burano island located near to Venice. It took about 45 minutes to reach Burano from Venice and it was really worth it. The island is situated at the northern part of the Venetian Lagoon, it’s really famouse because of the very strong and bright fishermen’s huts (there is a story that wives of fishermen painted the walls because they would like to help their husbands find home when they were coming from fishing and the weather wasn’t good enough). Apart from being extremely photogenic and instagrammable place  it’s also very famous for its lacework. A lot of ladies are sitting in the center of the island, chatting and making the delicate Burano lace. Amazing!

Very beautiful pictures @JustynaMad … The colour combination is just amazing … :grinning:

In the third picture, are there curtains instead of doors?

Hi @JustynaMad ,

It looks very beautiful! I think that people there are very happy as when they are going out in the morning their day starts colourful and this brings them happiness.

You had really great opportunity to visit this wonderful place! Which other places did you visit there?

Thanks for the great colourful post!

@PoliMC thanks a lot :slightly_smiling_face: I was in Venice and we went from there to Burano, it’s about 1 hour by vaporetto (water tram). I think that people there are very optimistic because of the daily view  I have read that the major commands the locals to paint the houses in that way two times per year. That is the reason why the colors are very bright and intense :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @JustynaMad ,

That sounds great! This way they make their lives more colorful and happier. I think this should be in every country. I’ve seen only in Holland such colourful houses and I can confirm that the people there were very smiley as well.

I am curious what is it exactly this water tram? Is it something like boat?

Hi @JustynaMad

I am happy that you enjoined Burano. When did you visited the island?

Murano Laces are probably the most expensive and exclusive in the world. The lace school was founded in Burano in 1875, and after three years it already had more than one hundred students. Have you visited the Lace Museum too?

@ErmesT I was there in Fabruary this year :slightly_smiling_face: Unfortunately I hadn’t enough time for going to the Lace Museum but I’m sure that is the great reason to come back there again in the future :))
