I have visited in the month of November with my wife and we enjoyed a lot with other fellow tourists. We were quite anxious to visit these original famous paintings.
Pictures have been considered as a medium to express human emotions since ancient times. In Rajasthan, painting has been rich since ancient times and the paintings are divided into four main styles.
The Chitrashala is in Ummed Mahal was built by Rao Ummed Singh in 18th century, is a part of the Garh Palace. Chitrashala forms a set of rooms, corridors, halls on a raised platform above the garden courtyard. The famous Chitrashala in Bundi provides a colourful glimpse of history. The walls, ceiling of this palace are completely covered with paintings of the Bundi school which are still in very good condition. These wonderful paintings in the Chitrashala are superb and might be the best. All these are the protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
Use of Green color is more in this style, where various paintings were painted. This style is having many special features and themes. Rao Bhavsingh’s reign is considered the golden period of this style. In Rajasthan, most depictions of animal birds were done in this style.
To access the Garh Palace we have to follow a steep ramp from the main gate.
