Early morning 04.30 am, walk from the hotel to Borobudur with a pre-dawn stroll through the dewy grass of a lush tropical garden.

Yes, it’s a grand ancient buddhist temple. I’ve been there twice but I was too young to understand and enjoy the other aspects of it, so I would love to visit it again one day.
Btw, don’t miss the Prambanan (ancient Hindu temple) while u r in those area. It’s also very beautiful.

Come and visit again Borobudur Temple and surrounding village…
Visiting and explore one of the world’s greatest Buddhist temples.
Stroll through Borobudur’s six terrace and glance at its magnificent bas-reliefs.
Built with forced labor from the surrounding countryside between about AD 750 and 850,
Borobudur predates Angkor Wat in Cambodia by three centuries.
It has recently been fully restored by an International effort under the aegis of UNESCO.
In nearby villages, you can still see stone masons working in much the same manner
as the peasants who built this astonishing monument.
Borobudur is best seen at dawn, when the air is fresh and full of birdsong.
As the mist begins to lift, the sun scales the surrounding volcanoes and terraced fields,
and highlights the stone reliefs and the many faces of Buddha…

This is so peaceful, and yet it is the dawning of a new day!
This awesome photo also holds the key thing that most Great works of art possess, and that is, an element of Mystery! This photo has that. It is so much more fitting than all the selfie photos of people wanting their faces on Connect. I wish Localguides would learn to take pictures of their Land! That’s what the world wants to see. But if you live on an island and all you have is ocean and a sea of faces on Land, then that could actually make a historic picture! But that lovely photo of yours is Historic and magical with the new day being born!
