Bihar State Museum Houses the Holy Relics of Buddha

The land of Bihar had a deep relationship with Mahatma Buddha. Mahatma Buddha started his penance from Rajgir and attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. After that he gave his first sermon in Sarnath and after that his followers spread Buddhism not only in the whole of India but also in China, Burma, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka etc.**

Bihar State Museum is famous all over the world for its artifacts, but the most valuable is an urn containing the holy relics of Mahatma Buddha, which was recovered by archaeologist Altekar from Vaishali in 1958. To see these holy relics, a separate ticket has to be taken from the ticket counter, which costs ₹ 100. It is kept safe in a special type of vault-like room, where there are strict security arrangements to guard these relics all times.
