Hello local guides, I hope everyone is well with the family. Today I will share with you the story of the mausoleum of the beloved daughter of a Subedar of the Mughal Empire.
It is located at Haziganj Kellerpool alone in the Narayanganj district. It is a mausoleum built during the Mughal period.
For a long time, I wanted to see this mausoleum built during the Mughal period. I went to visit a friend on a Friday in the last rainy season.
As you approach the mausoleum, you see a huge wall built during the Mughal period. Inside the wall, there is now a Bibi Marium Girlâs High School. The place is open to everyone.
Bibi Mariumâs Mausoleum was built by Subedar Shaista Khan, the Mughal emperor of ancient Bengal. The construction period of the mausoleum is 1664-1688 AD.
Historians speculate that Bibi Marium, daughter of Subedar Shaista Khan and sister of Iran Dakhat, may have been buried in the tomb.
The mausoleum is built on a high foundation in the middle of a square courtyard surrounded by a high wall. The white stone of Bibi Mariumâs tomb is painted with herb designs. There are several common graves on the verandah around the mausoleum. A dome can be seen above the square monument.
A mosque was built next to the mausoleum. The mosque is known as Bibi Marium Mosque. Now, this masjid is known as Kellerpool Shahi Jame Masjid.
At present, the mausoleum is under the Department of Archeology, Government of Bangladesh. The monument is maintained by the Department of Archeology.
