I am writing this because I believe Google Maps has the power to change how we live, but right now, it is missing the most important things.
In Switzerland, we are surrounded by beautiful public gifts: Drinking Fountains, Rest Benches, Grill Sites, and Trash Bins. I have spent months capturing these with videos and high-quality photos. I am not doing this for points; I am doing this for a mission.
This is the Truth of our Streets:
-
The Environment is Dying: When we don’t map a water fountain, people buy another plastic bottle. When we don’t map a trash bin, waste ends up on our green grass. This is not a ‘missing place’—this is a missing solution for our planet.
-
Mental Health is Fragile: We live in a stressful, expensive economy. A simple bench or a quiet grill spot in the mountains is a ‘Peace Point’ where a person can breathe and recover for free. By hiding these on the map, we are hiding health from the people.
-
The Logic is Broken: Google approves a parking lot in minutes because a satellite can see it. But a fountain that gives life, or a bench that gives rest, is rejected because it doesn’t have a phone number or a manager.
My Challenge to Google and the Community:
I have provided the proof. I have the Street View images, the Satellite coordinates, and the photos of the street names. I am a Rising Star, but my heart is with the people who need a place to sit or a sip of clean water.
We must stop treating public welfare as ‘temporary’ or ‘spam.’ Let’s make these life-essential spots permanent. Let’s make the map reflect the real, helpful world we live in. Who is with me in this mission to map the soul of our cities
