Hello dear Budapest visitor!
My name is Guillaume, I am a French citizen living and working in Budapest/Hungary for more than 20 years. I thus feel ideally qualified to see this wonderful capital which is Budapest with the eyes of a foreigner and a local as well.
Here I’d like to start a list of my own personal selection of Budapest best spas. As you may know, Budapest -and Hungary in general- is famous for its numerous natural hot thermal springs and thus spas. But there are many with different characteristics and here I’d like to give you some recommendations as to those I would consider worth paying a visit to when being in Budapest for a few days.
Today, I’ll start with the Veli Bej spa, which is not that famous but is IMHO a hidden gem and a bit less touristic than the many other ones available in the city. I have been there last weekend so I can give fresh information!

What I like about this one is that it is cheap (HUF 3,100 for up to 3 hours) and cheaper than the other famous spas. It is also a perfect compromise of old Turkish architecture and it has been renovated only a few years ago. It is clean. There are lots of different spas inside including a small swimming-pool, a jaccuzzi and svereal saunas or steam baths.
It is a pefect place to relax. You may also order a massage at the entrance desk. Be careful as it closed between 12:00 and 3:00pm. Just come with your own towel and flip flop shoes.
A fantastic spa!
