Best Restaurants in my area, Emilia-Romagna, Italy

I am from Italy and, as we all know, my country has a huge tradition in fact of good food. And I’m very proud of it.

I live in a small city in Emilia-Romagna, my region, that is famous for its tasty, plentiful and homemade kitchen. So I have decided to make a list of 5 places in my area worthy to be visited…and tasted! :wink: :yum:

The following places are absolutely my favourite:

  • La Baracca Sas’ – Volano (Ferrara) - A characteristic restaurant placed in the middle of the Comacchio Valleys. The location is an ancient and deconsecrated church of the XII century and its food speciality is fish and eels, since the main economic activity in this place is related to fishing. Fantastic choice of white wines. Middle-high price but excellent quality. / 4,4 stars out of 5

  • Rifugio degli Artisti’ – Dosso (Ferrara) – A very particular pizzeria-restaurant-pub located in a large place with unconventional furnishings between the sacred and the profane: the location is indeed divided in three different ‘dependances’ called ‘Hell’ ‘Heaven’ and ‘Purgatory’. Excellent pizza and a folkloric atmosphere. / 4,5 stars out of 5

  • La Lanterna’ – Guiglia (Modena) – Surrounded by the beautiful Modena hills and its historical medieval village, this small and lovely restaurant/hotel offers typical emilian food as ‘tigelle, gnocco and borlenghi’ with cheese, ham and first dishes, all accompanied by Lambrusco, a red sparkling and fresh wine typical of our region. / 4,0 stars out of 5

  • La Corte del Duca’ (Galliera – Bologna) – Special pizza with many original tastes and a good choice of beer to combine to. It also offers first dishes, tigelle, meat and excellent desserts. Furnished with a mix of modern, functional and vintage furniture, the location has a large space, is cozy and comfortable. / 4,6 stars out of 5

  • Ristorante Buriani’ (Pieve di Cento – Bologna) – Elegant restaurant which offers a sophisticated and refined menu that combines tradional elements of the emilian kitchen with the innovation and the creativity of young italian chefs. The use of raw materials of our territory represents the main element of this place to enhance our kitchen and respect the envinroment. Excellent starters, first dishes and main dishes fish and meat base, and absolutely amazing desserts. Not cheap, but once in a life you need to go. / 4,7 stars out of 5
