Best Poutine in Montreal

Recently had Chicken Poutine at Basha restaurant in Laval, it wasn’t to bad at all although the gravy could have been a bit thicker, so, guys which restaurant in and around Montreal serves the best Poutine?

Oh man…Definitely not the best poutine in Montreal.

In my experience, I love the “burnt ends” poutine from Blackstrap BBQ in verdun

also, the “patate écrasé” poutine with red wine gravy from poutineville. You can customize the poutine, I always add pogos, a variety of cheese and a sunny side up egg…To die for

A colleague recommends the poutine at Patate rouge on Cremazie (Ahuntsic), never tried the poutine but the fries are great!

Most people in Montreal say that the best poutine is at La Banquise. Their classic poutines are sumptuous and available 24/7. They also have more extravagant creations that are definitely worth trying: La Paul Pogo (pogo, onions & bacon), La Royale (pulled pork, apples & bacon), La Taquise (guac and sour cream), or even a vegan poutine. If the lineups are too long, try the poutine at Chez Claudette whcih is a Mile End institution which has been a favorite for its wide range of poutine choices, nearly 50 in total.

For those on the north side of Montreal or in Laval, I strongly recommend you try the poutine at Paulo & Suzanne on Gouin Blvd in front of the Sacré-Cœur hospital. It’s my personal favorite poutine in all of Montreal, and they have very generous portions. Make sure to try their Extreme Burger Poutine if you’re hungry!

For those looking for more fancy options, checkout the poutines at Le Garde-Manger or the foie gras poutine at Au Pied de Cochon, they;re interesting options as well. Then there’s the local grown chain Poutineville, which serves The Heart Attack, a 15-pound custom concoction that customers choose, including 11 different cheeses and 4 kinds of potatoes…

I also agree with kat_lauren; the Burnt Ends Poutine at Blackstrap BBQ is definately a top 10 on my list of best poutines in Montreal. So is the Put-In at Greenspot, which is staple for most Montrealers.

Lastly, if you’re living in the north shore of Montreal or the Laurentians, I would really recommend you try Raspoutine in Mirabel/St-Janvier/Boisbriand. They have lots of interesting variants of poutine (including a pulled-pork BBQ poutine which is absolutely delicious)…
