Best food in Miami?

Hello! On Monday I will be traveling to Miami, Florida for Spring Break. I am very excited as I have never been to Miami. I am looking for any fellow local guides who could point me in the direction of some delicious food- cuban sandwiches are a must (sorry if that’s super touristy). I’m open to trying pretty much anything so don’t hold back. Thanks everyone!

p.s. heres a pic of a cuban I made a while ago

with homemade pickles and roast pork

Wow, how exciting that you’ll be going to Miami @MatthewSap !!

I think fellow Local Guide Steve, @SP31 may be of assistance here.

He may even have a list of food options for you to check out! I’ll let Steve take over

Thanks for the tip, @Shirley !

@MatthewSap I’m happy to hear you’ll be visiting for Spring Break! Cuban sandwiches are awesome and luckily for you, there are a ton of places/variations available. Of course, I would definitely recommend Versailles - they have an original Cuban sandwich and a lot of other sandwiches and types of Cuban cuisine as well. We also have La Carreta, which is more of a Cuban Miami chain, and they have great Cuban sandwiches and meals as well. These two spots will fill your authentic Cuban sandwich musts!

In terms of other great places to check out for food, do you have a particular budget? Because the options can vary drastically based on your budget and what you’re looking for, but here are some places I would highly suggest:

KYU - Wynwood - Great Asian food, but if you can go there for brunch, would highly recommend - Neither formal or informal

Izzy’s Fish & Oyster - Miami Beach - Great lobster rolls and oysters! A bit on the pricy side - Formal

Santorini by Georgios - Miami Beach - The best greek food I have ever had if you’re into that - Formal

Ms. Cheezious - Various locations - Gourmet grilled cheese at its finest! - Informal
The Boiling Crab - South Miami - If you’re into cajun seafood boils, this is the place for you! - Informal

Whisk - South Miami - One of the best places for classic southern food, very filling portions! - Informal

Finka Table and Tap - South West Miami-Dade - a gastropub with an intriguing menu selection and hispanic flair - Informal

The Lobster Bar - Miami Beach - A great place for lobster, steaks, and other types of seafood. - Formal

Mr. & Mrs. Bun - West Miami/Kendall - A gourmet sandwich lovers’ dream, just a bit further out west in Miami-Dade. Guy Fieri has been here. - Informal

LoKal - Coconut Grove - Craving a great burger? This place has got them, as well as sandwiches, salads, and other bites - Informal

CRUST - City of Miami - Amazingly delicious Italian dishes and pizza - Neither formal or informal

Duffy’s Sports Grill - Various locations - Very laid back sports bar, but one of the better sports bars in Miami with great food - Informal

Bombay Darbar - Coconut Grove - Possibly the best Indian food in Miami, kind of pricy - Formal

Pincho - Various locations - Another great burger spot that also serves rice bowls, pinchos, and more - Informal

Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop - Coconut Grove/Wynwood - Do NOT miss out on their pies and other desserts - Informal

A long list I know, my apologies, but these are some of the places I’d definitely recommend. If you have certain tastes let me know and I can try to help a bit more. @Shirley , you’re right, I need to create a list!

@SP31 Thank you so much for the wonderful recommendations! And thank you @Shirley for connectting SP31 to this post. My friends and I are very excited to check out some of these spots. I’d say our budget allows for one formal dinner during the week, so I appreciate you covering a wide range of options. I guess my last question would be if you have any good places for sushi that wouldn’t be too formal but still quality. Thanks again for that list!

Versailles! We are heading back to Miami with the kids next month and Versailles is already on itinerary twice. Get a Cuban coffee! Visit the bakery next door! Sit in bakery and immerse yourself in CULTURE!

Go to Burger Baby. It is an awesome experience with even better burgers. South Beach can’t-miss stop!

No problem, @MatthewSap ! @LaurenMcCoy is right, definitely immerse yourself when you go to Versailles! Also, Cheeseburger Baby is pretty good and worth checking out too.

In terms of Sushi, the best place in my opinion, Bonsai Sushi and Thai, is far out west in Miami-Dade in the Kendall area, but some other great ones include Akashi in South Miami or Brickell, Moon Thai and Japanese in North Miami or Coral Gables depending on which is closer to you, Red Koi Thai and Sushi in Coral Gables, Pubbelly Sushi in Miami Beach, and a place I’ve wanted to try that is supposed to be great is Rice Asian House & Sushi Bar in Sunny Isles.
