auf dem Satelliten-Bild sieht man dort weiße Streifen. Könnten das Leitlinien für Blinde sein? Jedenfalls sind das wohl Fußgängerwege bzw. Bahnsteige:

@WilfriedB Könnte sein, ich weiß es nicht und muss mir das ganze wohl mal aus der Nähe ansehen.
I recall that the red shade is used to emphasize the location that we searched for. Could that be the explanation you are looking for?

I see the red area without doing a search. They indicate the train platforms, and I see the same at other German train stations. But platforms are not shown in red for Danish train stations. So it is likely something uploaded to Google Maps by the transport authority who also provide the train departure times.

Not really red, but pink @MortenCopenhagen, but I don’t think it describes the searched location. You get it when searching for “Parkplatz Bahnhof Eckernförde”, but also for " DHL Packstation 236" and other listing near by. The pink areas seem to mark the passenger platforms and the access points to them.

Correct @MortenCopenhagen, I found it for another station in Germany, but not in Italy:
However, strangely category of the railway station in Italy is just “Building”

@MortenCopenhagen in meiner Erinnerung sind nur Bahnsteige auf der rechten Seite, direkt vor dem Bahnhofsgebäude und mit dem unteren rosa Streifen, meiner Meinung nach ist da Nichts, seltsam

Many stations have a backup platform to use only when there are irregularities.

Heute habe ich die Gelegenheit gehabt, mir die rose gefärbten Abschnitte, am Bahnhof von Eckernförde, anzusehen.
Die Bahnsteige sind dort neu gestaltet und eben so farblich auf der Karte gekennzeichnet.

Die weißen Platten auf dem Foto gehören wohl zum Blindenleitsystem. Möglicherweise sollen die rosa Linien genau das kennzeichnen …?
Dort ist wirklich alles neu gestaltet und die weißen Platten Kennzeichen eine Fußgängerquerung zum Parkplatz
Grüner Weg, über die Bahngleise.
Blindenstreifen sind dort auch, es ist eine durchlaufende weiße Linie.
