Beautiful shots of jewellery in low light with DSLR camera

Clicking jewellery is fun too.Quick view of beautiful photos

My dear fellow guides to i’m sharing very effective way to click jewelleries without any professional flash lights above photos are clicked with Canon 600D it’s a basic Dslr camera.

If any of my fellow local guide is using Dslr here is a quickest way to click the best photos without professional flash lights.

Camera Settings

  1. Set camera of Aperture Mode.

  2. Aperture value = 13 or 16 for higher depth of field.

  3. Shutter speed = This will be automatically set according to the lights on aperture mode.

  4. Keep the exposure on zero.

  5. Image format must be large and raw, it will be easy to edit without loosing the product quality.

  6. Use plane chart paper as it will be easy to to cut product during the post production.

  7. Use tripod.

  8. Last but not the least enjoy while clicking photos. :slightly_smiling_face:

Below I will share before and after photos.

Hope this post will be helpful for local guides who are using dslr camera for good quality of contribution on Google Maps.

Good shots, LG @RohitGahlot ,

All your suggestions are good ones;

However, the aperture value for Jewellery shots - do we need anything more than f5.6 or max f8?

We are using only shallow depth of field (Items are small) for these pieces of jewellery - right?

A larger aperture can considerably reduce the shutter speed reducing the possibility of minute shakes - right?

Just my suggestions…

All the best.

Hey @TravellerG

For jewellery we always need to shoot with the aperture value more than f14 or more its may cross f20 according to the subject.

With f5.6 or f8 doesn’t come-up with best result as subject will look blurred.

Yes possibility of camera shakes increases at the time of small aperture value that’s why we always need to use tripod for better photos.

Hello dear LG friend @RohitGahlot

I appreciate your efforts; however, being in the photography field for more than 3 decades, I would humbly request you to have a look at the following shot, taken using Sony RX10M4, which is only a 1-inch type sensor.

What you told also is right - but for your information, here is a shot that was captured using a mid-range camera.

EXIF: f/5.6, SS:1/160 & ISO: 100; the original is very much sharper - (I have resized it to suit LG Connect requirements).

If you set the camera rightly, you can take this shot even in a larger aperture - as you are aware, there are other factors affecting the “Focussing” other than aperture alone. Hope you will take my suggestions in the right spirit.

Your photos are good - keep it up.

Hi @TravellerG hope you are doing great and as you said that you have experience of 3 decades.

30 years that’s mind blowing as my age is 31  he he he

Your above image looks good as it is sharp and bright in colours and yes i can understand that we have to resize the size and it affect the quality.

Well as you said that you clicked withSony RX10M4 and you call it mid-rage camera  it’s so expensive and also it’s a Mirror-less Pro camera worth Rs.131,490 and i have clicked with Canon 600d crop sensor worth Rs. 39,000 but still F-14 is better than F-5.6 Sony RX10M4 for jewellery photos.

Here you have compared 2 different camera technologies my above post is all related to the Dslr’s camera but you have shared the settings of Sony RX10M4 mirrorless expensive camera.

Thanks for sharing these awesome tips on capturing beautiful shots of jewelry in low light. The photos you’ve posted with the Canon 600D look stunning! The attention to detail and clarity is impressive, especially those earrings—they’re incredible!

By the way, speaking of jewelry, did you know that you can pawn wedding rings? It’s an interesting option if you’re looking for some financial flexibility or just exploring different avenues. I recently came across an informative article about it that you might find useful. Keep up the fantastic work, and I hope these tips help other local guides in capturing high-quality contributions for Google Maps.
