Beat the Heat- Refreshing sip from vintage soda shop

This is my entry for beat the heat challenge started by @MathanVibranarayan
While riding from Pune to Alibaug, we stumbled upon an 87-year-old soda shop that truly felt like a blast from the past — D. Samson’s Soda in Parli village.

This tiny, vintage soda spot has been around since 1938, started during the British era by Daniel Samson Dhighodkar, who crafted his own secret recipes to create flavourful sodas.

Also known as Ice Cream Soda, this place serves a variety of fruity, fizzy delights like lemon soda, orange soda, kala khatta, and more.

We tried the ginger lemon and kala khatta sodas — both were absolutely refreshing and felt like a saviour in the scorching heat!

The charm of the place lies in its simplicity old-school seating, walls adorned with framed newspaper clippings, and the nostalgic vibes of a time gone by. It’s more than just a refreshment stop;

We love discovering such hidden gems and supporting local, legacy businesses. If you’re ever heading to Alibaug, make sure to stop by and taste a sip of history!

These small shops in small villages are really amazing @Durgak03 . See how economical
it is. I am really happy to see the price list, the maximum is Rs.15. Thanks for sharing about this shop.
