It was a great experience to visit this open space reserve. It is located in Los Gatos, CA, just a 20 minute drive from where I live. This open space reserve recently in fact last year opened for public. Phase 1 is complete now there is around 7 miles of hiking trail open for public. As the name suggests preserve is full of giant redwood trees.
You can see moss growing on redwoods in the picture above, which creates a pretty picture.

Right next to the parking lot at the trail head there is a lake called ‘Upper Lake’. There is small loop trail around the lake. Here are few pictures of the trail and Upper lake.

We took Alma trail went all the way to old growth Redwoods. Alma trail is gradual uphill, moderate level hiking trail. Trail it self is very wide, even a truck can drive through this trail. Trail it self is very beautiful covered with tall redwood trees.

Always look up to take pictures among the redwood tree. If you have a fish eye lens you can create picture with different perspective.
Once you reach old growth redwoods, you can enjoy couple of old and huge redwood trees. Here is me with one of those huge tree.
Two redwood trees combined together.
As of now there are around 7 miles on trail in the reserve. With total area of 1432 acres. Looks like there are plans to expand another 15 miles of trails in next 15 years.

The trees are huge. In Italy we do not have so large trees.
