Hello Local Guides, Recently I visited the Capital of Ancient Bengal Sonargaon. Sonargaon is a glorious ancient province in the history of Bengal. It is located in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj district.
It is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Dhaka. It is bounded on the east by the Meghna River, on the west by the Shitalakshya River, on the south by the Dhaleshwari River, and on the north by the Brahmaputra River.
Bangladesh Folk Art & Craft Foundation has established on 12 March 1975 keeping in view the past memories of the historical Sonargaon. Local people are also known as âSonargaon Jadhugharâ. Sonargaon Museum official name âBangladesh Folk Art & Craft Foundationâ. Top tourist attraction place in Bangladesh. Every day about 10000 people visited this place.
Shilpacharya Zainul Folk Art and Crafts Museum was inaugurated on 19 October 1997. The three-story building has three galleries. Downstairs there are ancient and modern patterns made of wood. The overall process of making and selling different wood crafts is shown here.
On the second floor, there is an exhibition of Jamdani sari and Nakshikantha made in Sonargaon. On the third floor, there are instructions made of copper casa brass. The total number of specimens collected in the museum is 5478.
Sonargaon Folk Museum Library: There is also a library and document center for research on folk art and crafts. Articles, poems, research papers, magazines, etc. of about 12,000 local and foreign writers are preserved here. The library is open to everyone.
