Indian festivals are very unique and they have some meaning behind it. One such festival is BAIL POLA it is celebrated in the state of Maharashtra.
It falls on the day of PITHORI AMAVASYA ( the new moon day )in the month of Shravan according to Maharashtrain calendar (usually the month of August)
BAIL pola is a Thanksgiving day from farmers and people to there BULLS & OXEN for there hardwork and helping them in farming as a family members.
As a token of love and affection onthis day farmers give nice bath to bulls ,decorate them with makhar and other ornaments and give them rest.
Female members of family make PURAN POLI (sweet roti/sweet bread) and other delicious food and offer it to them. Then Male members of the family take there BULLS rally from whole village.
A wonderful descriptive post, @Ru_pali4 .This is the best way to show our gratitude towards bulls & oxen; it’s a special bonding between farmers and them.
Thanks for sharing with us.
@Anil6969 ,Here is another like your post; I think it was last year.
Thanks @Ru_pali4 for sharing this festival. I really enjoy seeing the picture of how you decorate the bulls! I knew that bulls were important in Indian culture, but not that they even got a festival to thank them.
