Do you know about Avatar Robot Cafe DAWN ver.β in Tokyo? While exploring Nihonbashi, I stumbled upon this unique café.
People with Disabilities Operate Robots Remotely
At this cafe, robots serve the customers, but they’re not run by AI. Instead, they are controlled remotely by individuals with physical disabilities, who may otherwise have limited opportunities to leave their homes. When you enter, the robots greet you and explain the cafe’s guidelines.
Avatar Robot Cafe DAWN ver.β” is a permanent experimental cafe run by Ory Laboratory Inc., where people unable to go outside for various reasons use avatar robots, OriHime and OriHime-D, to provide service remotely. This project aims to use technology to create new ways for people to participate in society.
Hola @ramen4423 tu artículo me recordó mi visita a éste café hace un año. Que lugar tan maravilloso, innovador y lamentablemente muy poco visto en otras ciudades.
Éste es mi artículo sobre Dawn Avatar Café
Hi @ramen4423! I found it while looking for cafes or places related to technology to visit while we were there, so it is recommended in a few articles and I think I’ve seen it in other media like TikToks/reels. It’s not as popular or known for foreigners who haven’t been to Japan, as the Pokemon cafe is for example, but it’s somewhat easy to find when you are looking for recommendations. I think that when we went, there were many foreigners too. I loved it and Japan!
