Authentication failed

Hi Local Guides!

Turns out that I was writing a post… when I wanted to post I got this error and I lost all my work :disappointed: which makes me really sad… So I would like to know why is this and if is there any way I can have my post back thanks. I tried going back to write and it says I have autosaved content but the one I was writing does not appear :disappointed:

Hello @Ale_003
Sorry to read that you lost a lot of work because of the authentication ticket mismatch.

When we edit a document continuously, the site saves that regularly.

However, if we take a break of more than thirty minutes & return to edit, that doesn’t work.
I pointed out that in this post.
https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/An-intriguing-observation-of-different-limits-on-Connect/m-p/2441025

Nevertheless, that’s a way to protect unauthorised access to our work after a sizable gap. However, there is one lacuna. We continue to add something & then at the time of preview we receive the message “Authentication ticket mismatch”

The best strategy to avoid such incidences would be to click refresh on return after a long duration.
The site will then prompt to load or discard the earlier draft. Load that & continue.

Another way is to create the document in Google Docs & paste. Google Docs updates the content regularly without asking.

Hello @Ale_003

If you start a post and take several hours to complete it, you will likely be logged out and this causes the authentication error. If you have auto-saved content you can load it by clicking on the load button

Hope that helps :slightly_smiling_face:

Suerte!

Hello @Ale_003 ,

As @C_T wrote, that happens when a session has expired so you need to refresh the page when you leave the page inactive for some time.

For this reason I marked his comment as solution so it can be beneficial for other Local Guides with the same question. You can read more about solutions here: How do I mark comments as solutions? :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you so much for your help and your time answering @C_T @Giu_DiB @chamodhk @SebaasC

Looks like It took me sooooo long I’ll start to write again… now I’ve leaned the lesson and I’ll be be refreshing to avoid that Thanks!

Understand your discomfort @Ale_003

However, I perceive that in another way. Such occasional problems provide a chance to find something new.

Nowadays I copy and save the HTML version of drafts of Connect posts in Google Docs. So even if I discard a draft inadvertently, a backup is always there.

This happened to me while writing this Recap;

Tell-it-all-Bare-it-all Show ,it hurt so much that I had to speak about it in this Comment , it was more annoying because it was at the point of publishing, what I do now is to save my work, even though I don’t have access to my Google docs or MSword; I copy and paste in a message chat box periodically till I am done.

Take it as writing same exam twice, the next one you are going to write will be even more beautiful than the one you lost @Ale_003

Yeah it’s awful I’m glad we tried again and we learned and I hope it doesn’t happen again :grinning: @Ewaade_3A
